INFORMATION ABOUT WOOL JUDGING

We are excited to welcome you to the 6th Annual Black Hills Stock Show Youth & Collegiate Wool Judging Contest. This contest provides students the opportunity to develop industry knowledge, strengthen evaluation skills, and compete in a hands-on learning environment centered around wool quality and grading.

Participants will evaluate a series of wool classes based on quality, yield, purity, character, and market value. Select classes will require written reasons, allowing contestants to demonstrate accuracy, industry terminology, and critical thinking.
Both Youth and Collegiate divisions are welcome, with teams and individuals representing schools, counties, and colleges from across the region.
